A Hopping Good Time

Easter 2011 or should I say the day before. Our family celebrated Easter the Saturday before so the kids could visit with their other side of the family. It was a little cool but much better than actual Easter when it rained. Brian's sister and husband, Melanie and Richard stayed with us through Sunday and headed home to Colorado on Monday afternoon. It was wonderful to have every one here and we grilled steaks, ate fruit pizza and eggs of course!

Brian is still trying to get over his chemo session and needs lots of sleep. He has had more nausea and lost some weight from the new chemo drugs. There is good news though, he found out his MRI of his head was negative and headaches must be from lymph nodes pressing on nerves and or blood vessels in his neck. Hopefully he will snap out of it soon. Brian has decided not to go to Orlando and Disney World in May because of his chemo treatment right before we are scheduled to leave. Melanie, his sister, is going to go with us and take his spot. We will miss him but realize it would be difficult for him to enjoy himself.

I got to hop, reorganizing the kitchen cupboards again!

CTCA Results

Happy Easter!

We got back from CTCA last night and my Internet was down so had to get it fixed today. Blogging news is late due to such interruptions. Brian's tests indicate an increase activity of cancer in his primary cancer sites and the 2 lymph nodes in his right neck. The good news is there is no masses or tumors in lungs or liver or any metastasis other than lymph nodes. Brian has started on 2 new chemotherapy drugs with more possible side effects. He will once again have chemo every 3 weeks for 3 months then retest to see if drugs are working. We were pretty down about it, but realize he must continue the fight. We go back in 3 weeks to CTCA and Brian will get a port put in for chemotherapy drugs to be infused through.

We are having Easter after all, if a little early. Brian's sister and brother-in-law are coming to spend as few days with us. Tomorrow we will have an early Easter dinner with Jessamyn, Jay, and boys along with Paqui, Marc and Zeyda. Spirits should hop with all the activities! We do need to be around loved ones as much as possible in these trying times. Our plans to go to Disney World is still a go, but don't know if Brian will be up for it. He will stay home if not.

Gotta hop, so love to all!

Brrrr-Cold

It is blowing a snow rain mix making us feel the winter of past with its fleeting reappearance. We will be getting ready for our trip to Zion IL this next Monday for Brian's check up. Hopefully, the tests will show why Brian is having headaches with neck and shoulder involvement. He has be going to the chiropractor regularly since being home with very little improvement.  The blood sugars are going down some now that he is taking more oral hyperglycemic medications after seeing his family  practitioner.

Brian has two band shows this weekend. One here in Alliance at the Gathering Spot Friday night and Saturday night at Wrecker's for The Country Showdown in Chadron NE. Never a dull moment I must say. Brian has been trying to strengthen his vocal chords and get his singing voice back. It has been a most frustrating affair for him not to be able to sing.

The next fun adventure we are planning is a 5 day trip to Orland FL to Disney World with Jessamyn, Jay, Taylen and Jarret. We will be staying at the Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge with animals right outside the balconies. We have been promising the boys we would take them to Disney World so will go right after they get out of school in May.

We have great news about Paqui! She and Marc are expecting a new little baby sometime in early December. She goes to have an ultrasound today to determine the arrival time. Zeyda has already put an order in for a little sister. Jessamyn's boys want a little boy. We just want everything to go smoothly and no complications. She is already on a lifting weight restriction of 25 pounds and has had some nausea and had the flu.

So needless to say, our lives are still quite full of old, new and exciting times. I will update after we find out how tests and doctors visits went at CTCA.

Luv ya all!

Home Again Home Again Jigity Jig!

Greetings to all!

We are home safe and sound. Of course we blew in with the chilly northwest winds. Back pops the stocking hat on Brian's head and we both broke out the sweat shirts and coats.  Needless to say, its a little depressing to have to bundle up and cover our new tans.

It was comforting to know the animals were glad to see us. Rico jumping up and down with adoration in his eyes. The cats both were puring with great enthusiasm. We sure appreciate the care Paqui and Marc gave Rico who as they put it, is a "pain in the arse at times".  Our neighbors Jan and Floyd were gracious enough to watch the homestead and entertain, feed, water and clean up after the cats and plants. We also appreciate Jessamyn, Jay, Taylen and Jarret for keeping care and riding our horses while we were gone. It took a village to help us have this trip of a lifetime and we appreciate all of you!

Coming up we will be flying to Zion IL again to the Midwestern Cancer Treatment Center for Brian's next check up on April 18th. He is having some elevated blood sugar readings and is going to have to get in to see his family provider to get it regulated. Could be why he is so tired all the time. Hopefully, he will get to feeling normal soon!

Have just gotten all the suitcases unpacked and laundry done. Will start sorting through mementos and work on a trip scrap book while it is still fresh in my mind. I know I am home sick for Hawaii since I was already checking online for condo rentals on the Hawaiian Islands for next winter.

Missing Aloha!
