Leaping Lizards!

A Leaping Lizard

Well folks, it is a leap year and February 29th is drawing near. Do you leap with joy or leap to your hearts content. Maybe you just leap in fear or just leap on out of here. But what ever type of leaping you do, please do it with love and grace.

Brian's sis, Melanie, left Friday and we sure enjoyed her company. It was nice to have someone to chat, confide and laugh with when Brian was sleeping. I thank her so much for staying with Brian while I saw my orthopedic doctor on Wed. and ran some errands. The doctor injected my knee again with steroids and this time it has helped more, probably because the meniscus tear has been fixed.

Friday was a busy day. After Mel left, Bree stopped in for a short visit and burned the sweet grass. I really enjoy our talks and I feel much better after. It was also a day for surprises. When our doorbell rang and I opened the door there stood Dr. Isom, Brian's family doctor. He came out on his afternoon off to visit and check in on Brian. It sure increased my respect for the type of doctor he is. Friday also brought the hospice nurse Ronna and it is always comforting to have support on hand. Paqui, Marc and Zeyda arrived for supper and stayed over night.Thank you Marc for doing my honey do list and Paqui for helping with chores around the house.

Saturday afternoon brought Brian's cousin Bill Monahan and his wife Linda from Greeley, CO. They brought Brian's Aunt Doris (father's sister) from Sterling, CO to visit. We all had a great time and appreciate the effort they put forth in traveling so far. Brian was able to visit some and was up when they came.

Tonight, I will curl up and watch who is who in the movie world and watch the Oscars. Tomorrow will start a new cycle and a week starts over. Let us live it to the fullest and earn our Oscars!

A Celebration of Life

This weekend we celebrated Brian. Many family and friends came to our house to honor Brian and comfort each other. Conversations flowed freely with lots of laughter, hugs, and tears. It gave us a chance to tell Brian how much we love him and each other. We were able to express how much influence Brian has had on our own personal lives through our stories. What a great way to remind us of what a wonderful friend, musician, father, brother, and husband he is. We love him and even though Brian was unable to partake in the noisy celebration going on downstairs, he was able to visit with us individually when able.

Thank you all for the flowers, food, help and support; for the miles traveled to get here and back. Thank you for tuning in to our blog to see whats new and whats old. But above all, thank you for all the love you have given Brian and our family!

Noise at last!

The house was filled with the voices of grand kids and laughter this weekend. How special it is after the silence of most days. It is a joy to have them here.

The kids took me along on Friday night to the show. The younger family members went to see Journey 2: Mysterious Island in 3D with Marc and the rest of us ya hues went to Safe House. Boy, was that a mistake! I should have put on my 3D glasses and gone the way of the younger generation. Safe House was way too violent for my likes.

The next day my grand sons where asking (begging) the Gonzales side of the family to make enchiladas. It turned out like an authentic Mexican feast with homemade pork chili, refried beans (with real lard), rice, and enchiladas. We also had chips with green chili salsa, red roasted chili salsa and homemade guacamole. Thank you Paqui and Marc, it was fabulous!

The girls helped me with some photos and helped their Dad with getting his scrapbook started by organizing his clippings and memorabilia. A project he has been wanting to do.

Well, I am going to post some pictures of the family. I just got done watching the Grammys and Adele stole the show, or maybe it was Whitney Houston.

More Visitors

Yes, we continue to enjoy our family and friends from the present and past. Thanks to Jessamyn, Jay, Taylen, Jarret and Taylen's friend Sam last weekend, Doc has a new supply of hay to eat.

Also we give thanks to Graig (a neighboring rancher) who delivered a large round grass bale free of charge. The horse is now a happy camper! He expects seeing us everyday and for the indignity of having to live by himself receives a bribe of an apple a day. Maybe we should call him Lucky instead.

Monday Brian's Uncle Bob and Aunt Eleanor stopped in for a visit and some old fashioned pot roast. Food cravings assail me at times and cooking just for little old me doesn't seem worth it, so pot roast it was!

Tuesday our dear friend Bree (like a third daughter) stopped by for supper and some french dip sandwiches from the left over pot roast.  The conversation flowed hot and heavy like the gravy we ate.

Wednesday morning Jeanie from our church came for a visit which always uplifts my spirits.  Kent, Brian's old high school buddy also stopped in for a short visit after lunch while in Alliance for business.

Paqui and Zeyda are here staying with us overnight and will be leaving this afternoon just in time to usher in the man Dan. Whether or not he wants to watch the Super Bowl, he will be forced to sit by while I rant and rave with most of America. What can I say, it is a revolving door around here. Whether Brian has good or bad days, we are very thankful for all the attention and love.

Thanks also goes out every week for the hospice nurses, counselors, and massage therapist! What a group of angels that are there for our support and well being! Making trips back and forth to Alliance for supplies to ease Brian's and my burdens. They are truly a group of special people!

Not much more to say, except go Patriots!!!!
