Hurray He Is Here!

Meet Breqkon Marcos Gonzales. He was born on January 25th at 7:28 am weighing nine pounds five  ounces and twenty and three quarter inches long. His head is as big as his chest at fourteen inches. Already he is a big guy with a big attitude when hungary! He has no problem finding the feed so far. His hair is dark, fairly long and wavy. Very handsome indeed, of course I am partial because of being his Grandma!

Rico and I have been staying at Paqui and Marc's for a couple days and are currently home for a few days to catch up. I haven't blogged because I haven't figured out how to transfer pictures onto the google blog site from my iPad.  I will be going back to Paqui and Marc's for the Super Bowl and to help when Marc goes back to work Monday. Paqui won't be able to drive for another week and can't lift anything heavier than fifteen pounds.

We celebrated Paqui's 38th birthday on January 29th and what a wonderful mother she is and has bonded with Breqkon without a hitch. What a perfect birthday gift. Paqui is a very giving mother to Breqkon and Zeyda and provides the love and care they need.  Marc is a great help and has stepped up even though neither of them has gotten very much sleep over the past several days. It's one of the draw back of having a new baby.

Zeyda and I have been cooking together, making a yummy chicken noodle soup. It is such a blessing to share these great experiences!

Count Down

I don't know why but thought a new color would be nice to start a new year's blog. Maybe it is because it is almost the valentine month; or it could be that I am seeing through redden eyes from getting my tax information together. Which ever it is please humor me.

The count down begins to Paqui's last week before Friday, the day scheduled day for her c-section. She tells me she can hardly get up and down due to the baby's exceptional growth this past month. Due to her high risk pregnancy she continues to get physiological ultra sounds every week. So far mother and baby are scoring 100 percent on the tests and last weeks baby weight was 8 pounds and 11 ounces! Monday Paqui will start her leave since it is pretty difficult to crawl around vehicles looking for damage. Ha!

Ok, I know what you are wondering. Why the picture of a person using forceps to pull a tooth? Well the answer is, that's exactly what happened to me last Monday. My dentist tried to pull my tooth, OOCH! He deadened the area with four or more injections and pulled with all his might. Still no success and then he tried to break the tooth with his drill and then I FELT IT FOR SURE!  Finally he stopped and said I would have to see the oral surgeon. My appointment isn't until this Monday for a consultation. Mean while I am nursing a very sensitive and somewhat achy tooth.

Linda, who I have mentioned several times throughout my blogs is my friend and business partner. She gave me a beautiful table top cover for Christmas that she quilted. I wanted to wait and take a picture of it until after the Christmas decorations came down. She does beautiful work and has her own very expensive quilting machine in her basement. It is huge! Needless to say I took a beginner's quilting class from her several years ago and flunked. I am glad she is my friend, I reap the benefits :-) Thank you Linda for everything you do for me!

I am changing my sunrise picture to one I took the other morning after I took my spa, I call it " A Knobby Sunrise Over A Knobby Hill".

Happy Birthday Jessamyn!

I going to dedicate this blog entry to Jessamyn who celebrated her 36th birthday on Wednesday January 9th. She was born early at 4:40 am with a strong voice and constitution. Over the years she has grown into a woman of quick mind and many wonderful talents. She has had a rough week with that nasty flu that is plaguing the county. Get well soon sweetie!

Bronco cheerleader Zeyda,  go girl!

The Broncos play their first game today in the playoffs. It is very cold here with a sunrise of 3 degrees and windchill of -15. It has warmed up to 11 and I don't think it is suppose to get much warmer. I will be glad to be on my sofa instead of in the stands where I can sip on hot tea or chocolate watching them beat the Ravens. There is one problem though!

I ran out of popcorn oil. Could pop it with olive oil, but don't know if I would tolerate the heavier taste. I noticed last night that I was out and it was traumatic not having my Saturday night popcorn. I just might have to bundle up and brave the cold to run into town and get me some oil.

I am the the proud owner of a new washer and now a new refrigerator. Jake, who brought my new fridge out yesterday almost went into the ditch on the way here due to the inclement weather. He was by himself and had to take my old refrigerator to the garage, unload and get the new one into the house; taking all doors off both and front door hardware. Poor guy, it was so cold and starting to snow. When he left it there was a raging blizzard and the electricity went out. Power outages aren't the best for new appliances, or any for that matter! Thanks Jake for all your hard work and frustration.

Well, I am definitely on call for the birth of Paqui and Marc's baby boy. Every time she calls I think this must be it! I am on hospital duty, I guess Paqui still needs her mommy :-) Rachel, Marc's mom is going to watch Zeyda. Paqui is pretty uncomfortable at this stage and is ready to "getter done" as Brian used to say. I told her Brian will send him along soon.

I truly have been blessed with two wonderful girls!

HOLY SMOKES!

Happy New Year to all and it has been a smoking one so far! I went to Gordon to bring in the New Year at the Voss's New Years party. It was truly a crazy and fun time with elaborate foods of all sorts. Literally a smorgasbord of the decadent foods that all the diet gurus reject as evil temptations. Jay closed out the party with a whopping win at the pool table which ended at 4 am.

Jessamyn and friends
Someone had too much cheer, shaky hands!
My plan was to head home on Wednesday but Jessamyn's iMac decided to take a dive. We hustled up to Rapid City to visit the computer doctor where she dropped it off and bought a new lap top to use for back up. Jessamyn was stressed to the max with deadlines looming with her business at JC Designs. After we returned home I was eating some soup and low and behold, I lost a crown off my lower back molar.

The molar wasn't the only thing I lost, my washer bit the dust on Saturday and the repair man stated it would cost over half of what a new one would. So on the way home from Gordon Thursday I stopped at the appliance store in Alliance. Not only did I buy a new washer, I bought a new refrigerator too. The old refrigerator will make it's new home out in the garage. Room for pop and drinks of a stronger nature too.

I also called my dentist and got an appointment in Scottsbluff for that very afternoon. So away I went, on the road again. My dentist checked the molar to see if he could stick the crown back on. The verdict was there is not enough tooth to hold the crown on so I am having it pulled in a week or so. It was either that or spend over two thousand dollars again for a root canal and new crown.

This year there will be a toothless old woman and cheap one to boot!
