Graduations and Dancing!

Zeyda has graduated from pre-school and heading to kindergarten this next fall. She is ready and looking forward to the new experience. Her school is just one block over from her home, how  convenient is that?

This weekend Jay, Jessamyn and I all traveled to Scottsbluff to watch the marathon dance production of Zeyda's dance school. It was so fun to watch all the dance students including our little dance protege!

Memorial Day I finished planting my patio, deck and garden. It is always nice to get the seed and seedlings into the ground. Then the hard part starts with the weeding and watering!

A Working Stiff Now!

After two interviews, background checks and drug test, I have been hired on as a team member of Highland Park Care Center here in Alliance. Having daily orientation Monday through Friday this week. I will continue to work as an adjunct instructor at WNCC teaching and now will also be a very part time MDS relief coordinator and RN charge nurse. This job will insure that I keep my nursing license by helping me make my required clinical hours to renew. Not to mention, replenishing  the coffers so I can continue to travel.

Julie the Green Hornet under the turquoise car port!

This past weekend I went to Sidney to help my friend Julie with her mom's garage sale. Her mom Laura has moved out of her home of 50 or more years and life possessions were being sorted and sold. I was definitely an active member of the garage sale team by purchasing many a treasure. Thanks goes out to Julie, Tom, Jim and Laura for food and lodging!

Brian's gravesite

While in Sidney I visited the gravesides of my family, both Davis and Lafler. Laying red roses at their graves is a gesture of love and respect. It is still hard to visit so many love ones in one place that have made such an impact in my past life.

Mother Nature's Cruel Trick!

It was a cruel trick! Mother nature keeps dumping the snow on us. Maybe we have angered her at one point or maybe she is just house cleaning one last time. For what ever the reason, the snows gets more devastating to my poor trees. Heavy icy snow has split one of my cedar trees and two large branches off my sand willow. Other trees have suffered also with some branches down. I weep for them all and think how will I ever replace the splendor. Not to mention how I will get them removed. It is overwhelming me this yard of mine. The pressure of getting the dandelions and crab crass under control and now large tree branches removed. The garden will need retilled and planted, that is if it ever warms up! It was 25 degrees this morning. The benefit of all this craziness is we got over an inch of moisture.

I want to wish all Mothers a Happy Mother's Day this Sunday. Brian's and my mom have been gone for awhile, but I think of them both often. How they shaped my life and taught me how to be a better mom. They both were my foundation and strength during some pretty wild times in my life.

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has sprung since the last few snowy days last week, thank goodness! I was beginning to wonder if the snow was ever going to go away. Yesterday it got up to 77 degrees and I mowed my lawn for the first time this season.  The automatic sprinklers are back on and running, so the yard work begins. The tulips and daffodils are emerging along with the buds on the trees. Spring also means sparkling smiles and dresses. It has been prom time at many a high school.  Gordon-Rushville's prom was last night.

Carlee and Taylen
My handsome grandson Taylen went to his first prom. Being a freshman he could not attend the junior-senior banquet but took his date Carlee Hinn to the Italian Inn along with some of his fellow buddies and dates. Oh how it brings back memories of mine and the my girl's prom days. The excitement built overtime. It started with finding the perfect dress and shoes. Then it  included how to wear our hair and down to what color nail polish we wore.
