Vacation Time

A sigh of relief can be heard.  My life has changed so much and has been a chaotic twist of events that I am grateful to be on vacation after only working a month. Whats wrong with that picture?

Tomorrow I will be on my way to pick up my sister Nancy from my brother's house in Ft. Collins. She will be staying with me before my side of the family congregates to the Black Hills near Custer. That's what vacations are all about...

Tornado Alley?

Taken between Gordon and Merriman, NE

It seems that Colorado, Nebraska and now South Dakota have been added to all the other states that have suffered destruction, heartache, and loss as the direct result of these massive rotating storms this season.

Not only is the sky rotating but my life has been rotating too. My mind and sense of calm normalcy has been jolted into a turmoil of activity and unknowns. Linda and I have agreed to be co-interim  Directors of Nursing Services at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance for two months while they try and find a replacement. Their previous Director had passed away a month ago. Linda has the experience of being a Nursing Director and knows much more of what is expected. Me I guess I am along for the ride. We are running this contract through our business, Western Nursing Consulting LTC Nursing Solutions. Neither of us can work too much, so hopefully this position gets filled sooner than later. I will be chanting this mantra: two months, two months, TWO MONTHS ONLY!

A Redo!

Its a redo for sure this week. I planted more tomatoes, peppers and put in squash, cucumber, watermelon, and muskmelon plants. Also poked bean seeds down the row where beans were washed away or beaten. Had to replant all the carrots and kohlrabi. May this be the last time and the garden that remained flourishes.

Hoot Owl Ranch, 2014 Cattleman's Ball

Had a wonderful time at the 2014 Cattleman's Ball with my kids this past weekend. Paqui, Jay, Jessamyn and I went and enjoyed the festivities. It was my birthday and what better way to celebrate! Shook a leg around the dance floor with Jay and enjoyed seeing some old friends. Thanks goes out to Paqui who was our designated  driver and got us home safely.

Road trip to the ball!
Starting Monday my business partner Linda and I will take on a a temporary interim Director of Nursing Service position at Highland Park Care Center here in Alliance. We are going to share responsibilities, since neither of us wants to work full time. Hopefully they will fulfill the position quickly and within the next two months. New adventures are surely up ahead...

Baboo

Had a touch of the flu and spent a night and day in and out of bed Wednesday. Slept, read and finally watched my new 50" TV in bed. May we all have something or someone to pacify us through stressful times!

A Series Of Unfortunate Events

Its been a week of unfortunate events. Starting with a wave of hail, wind and torrential rains. The weather in Nebraska and Colorado has been anything but calm. Volatile storms approach about every evening lately. Wednesday evening the area around Alliance got hit pretty hard with hail and rain. I feel for those farmers that are affected. Not to mention the flower and vegetable gardens ruined, like mine. After surveying my garden a day later, it looks like it got pretty hammered pretty bad. With almost three inches of rain it also looks drowned too. Going to decide if I will replant, but probably will if I can find more plants. Will wait until after this weekend, due to the ominous weather reports forecasted.

I have been experiencing a series of floaters and flashes of light in the  peripheral vision of my right eye. Looking like spiders and dots floating across my vision with flashing white lights. It was causing some difficulty and irritation in focusing. Thursday I got right in to have my eye doctor check it out.  The conclusion is that I have PVD, Posterior Vitreous Detachment. He also checked for a detached retina which can happen with this type of condition. He states it one of those older person type aliments, yikes it must be a sign since my birthday is Sat.

Before the torrential downpour of rain and hail Wed. night I had the pleasure watching Taylen and Jarret play Babe Ruth baseball. They had to called the game due to weather eventually. But it was a win since they were so far ahead of the other team. Go Gordon-Rushiville Sandhillers!

I have been putting some time in at Highland Park Care Center learning the software on they're computer system and brushing up on the process of doing and submitting MDS 3.0 assessments. These are assessments that are regulated for long term care facilities and medicare recipients in skilled nursing facilities. Went to work four days in a row and you would of thought I was working seven. I was pooped and drained. Another of those old age effects I guess...

Might be hope for me yet!
