Today we received news that Brian's older brother Greg was found dead in his apartment. He has been mentally and physically disabled for several years. We pray that he may rest in peace now and be with his father and mother. It has been hard for the family to see him self destruct over the past years. Funeral arrangements are still pending.
Brian is planning to fly back to CTCA on August 15th to have his initial radiation mapping done in preparation for radiation therapy to his neck. He will travel alone, while I finish up with teaching my class. The mapping and plastic mask that will hold his head in place takes a few days to complete so he will fly home during the post setup phase. Then the next week we both will both fly to CTCA to stay for the duration (2 1/2 weeks) of the radiation therapy. Unfortunately, Brian is having more difficultly with nausea, eating and fatigue. We look forward to Brian getting some relief from these symptoms from planned treatment.
There is sad news in the garden front too! The grasshoppers have taken their toll. They have devoured the bean blooms, zucchini plant, and carrot tops.
Hello Brian and Mary,
ReplyDeleteBrian, I am so sorry to hear that your health challenges continue. I am praying for you all and believe in the power of God's Love. Thank you for your blogs as that helps us keep up with what you are dealing with.
I was home this last week to work on some "stucco" issues. The Serefkos also came home to help. Valeta and Dawn also helped.
Dan was home and came over to the house to visit. It was nice for us to get an update as we don't see each other often.
Mom told me about Greg this am. I am sorry to hear of his passing. It makes me sad to think of his lost potential in life especially considering his intelligence and talents.
Dad continues to deal with dimished energy and shallow breathing. He built an addition to his tractor loader that enabled us to reach heights and lean out safely to stucco the house and the tank house. We had to mix multiple batches of stucco and Dad insisted on running the mixer as that is something he could do.
Please keep posting your progress so we know how things are going.
You are very special people. Love you and we want to share your journey . . .
Sorry, I messed up the post. This is Alys Lafler-Ratigan. Woops.
