Ode to Brian

Brian, you were truly my life partner. First you were my best friend and then my lover. When the kids came along you became a great father. You have provided and protected our family throughout the years. I have never once regretted marrying you. The end of our time together is here; but I know you will be waiting for me when my time comes to cross over to the other side.  Our life together has been a bond of karmic proportions and will continue on throughout time. Love forever! Mary

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, ‘Peace bethine’.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

  3. Hello Mary,
I am so sorry for your loss of Brian. He is at peace now and the pain is gone. Thank you for posting your joys and trials here. I have followed you and Brian and have sent many prayers your way.

I also left her early in the am yesterday to get to the funeral, but was feeling ill so ended up turning around and coming home. I am sorry that I was not there.

Let me know if you ever come up to Rapid City. I would love to have lunch with you. Alys Lafler-Raitgan
